Diploma of Outdoor Recreation

 

 

This qualification provides the skill and knowledge for an individual to be competent in planning, implmenting and evaluating outdoor recreation programs and activities accross a range of activity areas which include complex and non-routine situations. Work should be undertaken autonomously with responsibility for management, leadership of others and maintenance of resources. Work would be performed in and for for field locations with varied contexts requiring contingency planning.

Course Duration:

12 months from commencement

Entry Requirment:

HSC (Year 12) or a mature background

Note:

HLTFA301B Apply First Aid is a pre-requisite for all courses

E-Learning + Face-to-face

The e-learning is a web-based learning system used to; either build upon, validate or give students the knowledge base required for the required unit of competency.

The face-to-face training is to provide training and/or assessment for each of the practical elements of your selected activity.

Documented and Verifiable work experience or logged practice session will be required and form an integral part of the assessment process.

All of the above must be completed holistically.

Despite the myth: Adventurous activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, navigation etc CANNOT be learnt by reading about it, they must be completed face-to-face.

Course Requirements:

Total Units: 33 units - 18 core plus 15 activity specialisation units

Activity Units: Choose a Minimium of 2, Maximum 3 from Group A OR 1 from Group A and 1 from Group B

General Electives: A selection of General Electives may be added to meet the course criteria of 33 units

The following are compulsory pre-requisites for students that do not hold the core units from Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation & Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation. These units can be selected as General Electives and will not occur additional charges if they are included as part of the packaged course.

Note:Additional Pre-Requisite units not selected as part of the course will charged at the single unit rate of $210.00 per unit.
