Outdoor Recreation Instructor

 

An outdoor recreation activity instructor instructs and guides individuals and groups in outdoor adventure activities such as bicycle touring, bushwalking, canoeing, caving, cross country skiing, horse trekking, rafting, rock climbing and sailing. Instructors develop the skills of participants so that they can act independently or with minimal supervision following the program, and may be required to conduct assessments.

Note: Only Registered Training Oganisations (RTO's) can issue Nationally Recognised Training Qualifications.

SIS20210 - Certificate II: (click for course content)

This qualification provides skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in performing core skills in outdoor recreation environments and assisting with the conduct of a range of outdoor activities

Career Pathway: outdoor activity assistant, outdoor participant

 

SIS30410 - Certificate III: (click for course content)

This qualification provides skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in guiding outdoor recreation activities in an controlled environment. It requires technical knowledge of the outdoor activity to be transferred to allow individuals to safely participate in the outdoor activity.

SIS40310 - Certificate IV: (click for course content)

Depending on the specialisation chosen, this qualification provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in; guiding outdoor recreation activities in an uncontrolled environment or Instructing outdoor recreation skills. An instructor has the skills, knowledge ad experience to facilitate skill transfer or development to clients in order that they may participate in outdoor activities

Additional Pre-Requisites - If you do not currently hold a Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation you will be required to complete additional pre-requisites.

Career Pathway: Outdoor Guide (uncontrolled environment), Outdoor Instructor

 

SIS50310 - Diploma: (click for course content)

Ths qualification provides the skill and knowledge for an individual to be competent in planning, implmenting and evaluating outdoor recreation programs and activities accross a range of activity areas which include complex and non-routine situations. Work should be undertaken autonomously with responsibility for management, leadership of others and maintenance of resources. Work would be performed in and for for field locations with varied contexts requiring contingency planning.

Additional Pre-Requisites - If you do not currently hold a Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation and Certificate IV you will be required to complete additional pre-requisites.
